Thursday, March 22nd 7-9 pm Weston High School Media Center
"Transition 101 – High School to Adulthood": This workshop, presented by a member of the Federation for Children with Special Needs, addresses effective use of the IEP and the Massachusetts Transition Planning Form for students who are ages 14 – 22. Individualized, person centered planning of curriculum and supports throughout high school leads to better post high school outcomes and opportunities in education, training, and/or employment for students with disabilities. Discussion includes age of majority, self determination and self advocacy, life skill development and preparing students to pursue as independent an adult life as possible. 

Thursday, April 12th 7-9 pm Weston High School Media Center
MCAS – Access and Achievement for Students with Disabilities: The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) is a tool to measure progress in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks or general curriculum. This workshop, presented by a member of the Federation for Children with Special Needs, will help parents understand how their children with disabilities can participate in MCAS in a meaningful way to demonstrate what they have learned. Discussion will include standard and non-standard accommodations and alternate assessments.

Welcome to the WestonPAC Website

The Weston Parents' Advisory Council for Special Education is a group of parents committed to:

  • Providing advocacy, information, and community connection for Weston families that have a child in preschool, elementary, middle, high school and in private schools receiving special education services in Weston. We are an all-volunteer group that welcomes parents, educators, providers, and interested community members. 
  • Working collaboratively with administrators and staff to continually improve the experience of students, parents, and staff in supporting children in need of special education services.
  • Offering resources, tools, strategies, and as much information as is possible to parents and children with special needs.
We welcome you to join our group and hope you will find support, experience, and assistance with navigation through the school processes.  The WestonPAC regularly offers informations lectures, coffee, and discussions.
