An Overview of Reading for Parents
The Weston PAC (Parent Advisory Council) is sponsoring "An Overview of Reading for Parents". Presently by Heather Ahern, M.Ed., Literacy Consultant for Bay State Reading Institute. The lecture will be a parent friendly presentation that will provide an overview of the 5 components of reading, research-based instructional practices, current practices in assessment and progress monitoring, and practical suggestions for parents. This event is free and open to the community. It will be held at St Julia Church Banquet Hall (374 Boston Post Road) on April 30th 9am-12pm. - Providing advocacy, information, and community connection for Weston families that have a child in preschool, elementary, middle, high school and in private schools receiving special education services in Weston. We are an all-volunteer group that welcomes parents, educators, providers, and interested community members.
- Working collaboratively with administrators and staff to continually improve the experience of students, parents, and staff in supporting children in need of special education services.
- Offering resources, tools, strategies, and as much information as is possible to parents and children with special needs.
